Fly Fishing in New Zealand
Stalking Trout with Les Hill and Graeme Marshall
In 1985 Les Hill and Graeme Marshall produced one of the great New Zealand trout fishing books. Stalking Trout broke new ground by defining the sight fishing technique. Les Hill has established a reputation as one of the country's top trout fishing photographers while Graeme Marshall is recognised as one of New Zealand's premier fly fishing guides. Les now offers a range of his remarkable photo images for sale while Graeme returns to guiding by offering a strictly limited number of days per season from his new base in South Canterbury.
Guided Fishing
New Zealand's South Island remains a mecca for international anglers. Indeed, some areas have never fished better with strict enforcement of environmental protocols. Graeme Marshall returns to guiding with renewed enthusiasm after a few years of semi retirement and offers a range of angling packages. Graeme is able to return to old haunts in the Nelson, Murchison and West Coast areas but now includes Canterbury and the McKenzie Country in his territory. The emphasis is on trips tailored to suit clients' individual needs.
Photo Gallery
Les Hill needs no introduction to discerning 'armchair' anglers. His amazing images have appeared in a wide range of books and magazines including New Zealand Fish and Game, Australian Flylife and the prestigious UK publication, The Field. Such is the interest in his photographs internationally that he is now offering some of his best for sale.
Books
Les Hill and Graeme Marshall have collaborated on a number of books. Les has also written Stalking Stillwaters on his own and combined his talents with noted fisheries scientist John Hayes in The Artful Science of Angling. Graeme added some chapters to Brown Trout Heaven with Zane Mirfin and Rob and Jana Bowler. Stalking Trout broke new ground in 1985 and is reputed to be New Zealand’s best selling trout fishing title. A new book, A Stroll Through Brown Trout Country is currently awaiting publication and is due for release early in 2007. All the books are available and can be ordered from www.trout-books.com.
